How to Identify Asthma Symptoms in Kids?

Nowadays, asthma is unfortunately becoming a big part of our society, and even more sad is the fact that 500 000 kids each year ends up in the ER. Asthma is sending more kids to the hospital, than any other chronic illness present in kid’s childhood. That is why parents must learn how to identify and recognize asthma symptoms in kids.

Childhood asthma can be hidden and very hard to notice and recognize, but luckily enough, if you pay attention to asthma symptoms in kids, you can identify them on time, before the illness becomes chronic, or at least in an early stage, when it is highly treatable.

Here are few certain asthma symptoms in kids, which should be your red alert for taking kid to the doctor’s, as soon as possible.

Although not the most common one, wheezing is a very safe and the most telling asthma symptom in kids. If your kid whistles, while breathing, or makes a high pitching sound, you should be very careful, because it might mean that something is blocking the breathing canals.

Hard breathing and coughing without any virus included are also common asthma symptoms in kids. These are very obvious symptoms of asthmatic attacks, so if you notice them, contact child’s physician.

Usually in the morning you might also notice (without symptoms of cold) that your kid is coughing “rattly”, frequently (it is called a dry cough), wheezing and coughing constantly for few minutes, feeling exhausted although it is initially healthy etc.

Few more asthma symptoms in kids are lung pain, chest pain, flared nostrils, pursed lips, bent over posture etc. Whether or not your child starts complaining be sure to visit a doctor because it is always better and safer to prevent than to heal.
