People generally have an idea or might have heard about asthma. Common knowledge states that asthma is a breathing related disorder characterized by the ever popular “wheezing” and difficulty during attacks. In a sense we somewhat know something about asthma, during attacks that is, but what about the symptoms?

Do you know the several faces that asthma might present itself in while still in the process of incubation and maturation? If you have those symptoms will you be able to recognize and differentiate it from other conditions? Here is where asthma gets tricky and deceitful as many of the asthma symptoms can guise themselves in the form of other common and harmless illnesses.

Asthma is a very controllable and manageable condition, and the earlier that you are able to get diagnosis and treatment for it the better your chances are of preventing any irreparable damage and avoiding possible dangers. Here are some of the most common and deceitfully telling asthma symptoms:

Wheezing:  The classic of classics in terms of asthma, wheezing is one of the most common signs that asthma can present itself in. The wheezing or whistling sound is created by the air being forced out of narrowed airways making breathing difficult. Even with this very common asthma symptom it is a wonder why most people still miss it and ignore the fact that they may have the condition.

Coughing: If you find yourself coughing unproductively (dry, itchy throat, without any mucus) which tends to worsen during the night, then it might be something else rather than just your regular cold or flu. Get expert medical advice first before going to the drugstore and grabbing that cough medicine as it might makes things worse.

Anxiety or Restlessness: Anxiety and restlessness are some of asthma’s most misleading symptoms. Since these two can be related to almost anything else, people tend to miss the real reason behind it allowing for the condition to grow. One particular reason as to why this can be related to asthma is because anxiety and restlessness can also be related to the unnoticeable lack of oxygenation in the body making one feel uncomfortable and restless.

Shortness of breath: There are plenty of reasons that you can give out as to why you might experience shortness of breath, activities, pressures, running, exercise, and a lot more. The main difference between these and an asthma symptom is that even with the absence or light activities you feel that you are always catching your breath.

There are other asthma symptoms that you should probably be looking out for, those mentioned above are only a few on the list of asthma symptoms. But if you observe any one of those present, do not wait for other symptoms to pop up, have it checked immediately so that treatment can medication can begin as early as possible.
