Bronchitis is caused by inflammation of the bronchial tubes due to constant irritation or worsening of common respiratory infections like colds and flu. Bronchitis is further broken down into two categories being; chronic and acute. Although displaying similar symptoms the main difference between the two would be the duration before real relief is achieved and the possible dangers that they may pose.

The symptoms include; coughing (productive or unproductive), chest pains, fatigue, colds, slight chills, and wheezing. Chronic bronchitis may also have additional symptoms like coughing that gets worse during mornings and moist days, and frequent respiratory infections like coughs, colds and flu. Unlike acute bronchitis which only lasts anywhere between a few days to a few weeks, chronic bronchitis is an ongoing condition where these symptoms can be prevalent lasting from months to years.

Surprisingly, the care and treatment for both acute and chronic bronchitis is the same as the treatments and care for common colds or flu. This would include plenty of fluids, rest, avoiding smoke, and taking over the counter medications can help alleviate discomfort and rid the ailment. But aside from using conventional methods you can also count on more natural treatments to achieve faster relief from your condition.

Eucalyptus for example has been known to have beneficial effects in handling coughs and colds. The compounds present in eucalyptus have been known to loosen phlegm and dilate the air passages making it easier to cough out. Inhaling the vapour of eucalyptus leaves placed in boiling water can bring about quick and lasting relief. Aside from eucalyptus, garlic has also been used by a lot of people for various respiratory associated illnesses including bronchitis. A powerful antiviral and expectorant, chopping one clove of garlic into manageable pieces and taken daily can provide wonders for your condition.

You can also use a combination of honey, ginger and black pepper to relieve bronchitis. Mix about half a teaspoon of honey with a very small amount of black pepper combined with fresh ginger paste and take when there is great discomfort as it can quickly provide relief and can eliminate the burning or rattling sensation in the chest by opening up blocked air passages and breaking down mucus.

Astralgus has also been found to be a good alternative and natural bronchitis treatment. Taking 500-600 mgs of astralgus three times a day or six to eight drops of the root tincture mixed in water will help to get the mucus out of the respiratory system.

There are plenty of other options that you can take when you want to achieve faster relief over bronchitis. For additional safety talk to your doctor if you are interested in using any of the natural bronchitis treatment as they may be able to caution or give you additional advice as to what other methods you can try.
